Early Detection - the Key to a Cure
Initial prevention is important; however, only some cancer diseases may be prevented. Therefore, it is also important to know that cancer is not necessarily a death sentence. Early detection is the key to a cure.
Many cancer patients recover when the disease is detected at an early stage. With the help of periodical early detection tests for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, skin cancer and cervical cancer, cure rates may reach 90%.
Prof. Eliezer Robinson, Israel Cancer Association Chairman and Past President of the UICC: "65% of cancer-related deaths may be prevented. It is important to note that conducting early detection tests for numerous diseases may lead to very high cure rates".
Thanks to the intensive efforts of the Israel Cancer Association in early detection and bringing to light its significance, there has been increased public awareness of the critical importance of early detection tests for cancer.
